Sony DCR-IP7BT Camcorder Review
|
Sony has determined that
backing two digital users formats (MiniDV and Digital8); one more than
any other camcorder producer, is not adequate. Sony's most recent debuts
into the camcorder production are the IP range is the MicroMV format.
Sony's presentation DCR-IP7BT Network Handy cam is a just a matchbox,
flat camcorder, taping MPEG-2 on the fresh MicroMV cassettes.

|
The IP7BT bears a 680K
pixel Charge-coupled device, taping 500 lines of resolution. Though the
Charge-coupled device in fact records just 380K pixels. The camcorder
contains a 10x optical, 120x digital zoom. The camcorder does not
feature an earphone jack, or a microphone input jack. The minimal lux is
graded at 7. The weight of camcorder is near about 12 oz, width of 1
7/8inches, height of 4inchesl, & length of 3 1/8 inches.
The IP7BT is a very small
camcorder, shaped for consumers who are searching a hyper pack. The
camcorder is slim, featuring a Liquid crystal display screen on the left
side and the electric battery pack on the right hand side. The 2.5inches
Liquid crystal display pivots so you can shoot easily, yet dissimilar
most camcorders, the Liquid crystal display screen folds up and out,
rather of away and upward. Adjacent to the electric battery, nearest to
the face of the camcorder, are in / out interfaces. These ports include
Universal Serial Bus, MicroMV's particular FireWire, Composite and the
Direct current Power connecter.
The Liquid crystal display
screen can spin out, twist around and close back. The Liquid crystal
display screen is also touch sensible, and it is utilized to navigate
menus and functions in the camcorder.
|
Above the Liquid crystal
display is a very little zoom regulator, a recording switch, a still
image switch and a Memory Stick discharge button. Placed at the rear of
the camcorder is a Memory Stick Expansion slot. The camcorder also has
an 8MB capacity Memory Stick and can record and keep 640 x 480 pixel
still images to the Memory Stick – not extraordinary. The digital still
images can be shifted to the pc thru the Universal Serial Bus connecter
on the side of the camcorder. The camcorder is also capable of recording
MPEG film onto the Memory Stick.

|
In the rear of the
camcorder, there is a facility of color viewfinder, which has to be drew
back to be practiced. The power button, which changes the camcorder
setting from video recording, to VCR(Videocassette recorder) mode, to
Network / Memory Stick mode, to off. Situated in the rear is also a tape
turn out switch. The Mike is placed on the topside of the camcorder in
the direction of the backside. This is in fact awkward because
probabilities are you will finger the mike with your hands whilst you
are shooting video recording, producing unneeded background sound.
The camcorder is offered
with Movie shaker software. This is Sony's user movie editing software.
Even though the camcorder utilizes Fire wire, it is not simpatico with
offered Fire wire. The camcorder can link to computers employing offered
Fire wire interfaces, but only Sony's Movie shaker software is familiar
with the software. Presented video capture programs are not capable of
recording the particular MicroMV Fire wire. The MicroMV Fire wire also
not able to shift video recording to and from offered Fire wire
camcorders and decks.
The MicroMV format shoots
MPEG-2 video recording, and is able to hold 1 hr of video recording.
Digital8 and MiniDV camcorders yield 25 MB/sec for video recordings,
while MicroMV only utilizes 12MB/sec. The MicroMV tapes contain
64KiloBytes of Memory for saving index data about the capacities of the
tape.
The camcorder contains
Bluetooth technology. Bluetooth technology enables the camcorder to
wirelessly built link to another Bluetooth enabled device in the range
of thirty feet. Particularly, Bluetooth technology is employed in the
DCR-IP7BT to built link either to Bluetooth technology mobile phones or
to a landline telephone employing the offered Bluetooth adapter. The
made connection enables you to use your camcorder for communicating.
The camcorder contains
three network facilities. The 1st feature is e-mail. You can send and
get e-mails with either MPEG video accessories from the Memory Stick or
still image accessories. By taking aid from Sony's online Image station
web site, you can transfer your photos onto your own personal album site
entertained by Sony. The camcorder is also able to browse the web, by
seeing web pages made for PDAs and web enabled mobile phones. You can
link up to the website by both taking assistance from Sony's service or
your own Internet Service Provider. These communication facilities are
difficult to use and look slightly unfeasible. It may be pleasant for
some users to be capable to email your stills to friends, though it is
very difficult to write emails on the camcorder.
The
DCR-IP7BT is pocket-sized. The camcorder is shaped more for the general
user who is not concerned in taking quality video recordings. The
camcorder is so small in size its difficult to record stable video with
it, and it is not good on a stand. No mike in or earphone jacks offered
with the top mounted mike signifies audio is to some extent out of your
control. The video standard is definitely lower quality than other
existing digital camcorders. The camcorder looks more than an appliance
than a proper "memory taping tool". I would not advocate this camcorder
on such a high cost of USD1, 700 except you demand a tiny camcorder for
some particular purposes. There are many small sized camcorders present
in market that record on MiniDV at best quality with more
characteristics and functions and even at a much low cost. Finally, the
DCR-IP7BT is an appliance that I would not advise.
