Panasonic NV-GS200 (MiniDV)
|
Panasonic's
NV-GS200 and NV-GS120 DV camcorders acquire the single-Charge-coupled
device contest with great practicality and three Charge-coupled device.
The
chief camcorder manufacturers have set their eyes tightly on the
entry-level family video market for rather some time at the present, and
in the previous two years we have discovered a characteristic-packed
single Charge-coupled device (CCD) camcorders approaching the market.
That said, it is harder to bring to market an excellent 3 Charge-coupled
device (CCD) camcorder at 1 Charge-coupled device (CCD) costs, but that
is something that Panasonic performed when it brought in two fresh
low-priced, affordable 3CCD(charge-coupled device) models in the
beginning of the year 2005. The NV-GS200 and its kid buddy, the
NV-GS120, dominated few leaders - and with good grounds. Now superseded,
let's see what they provide to consumers. Here's our creative review
article. |

First impressions
It's exciting to know how
both of these two models from Panasonic carry a significant similarity
to the Canon MVX25i and MVX250i models. The GS200 and its
little-empowered bro - the GS120 - are small, dumpy and fully loaded
with features. As you would look from Panasonic, the buttons and
commands are all located where you can access at them comfortably, and
newbies will go through few troubles turning on and getting started in
Easy mode after just a couple of minutes. The main power button, which
is located where the operator's thumb stays, is followed by a dial,
which regulates all the major camcorder record/playback (replay) and
picture card shoot/playback commands (GS200 only). The majority of the
major playback features - including the Menu button and several digital
image control functions - are concealed in the Liquid crystal display
screen inlet, as is the expansion slot for the Memory Card (SD / MMC).
Linking ports are concealed below rubber flaps at several positions on
the camcorder's body.

Features
The
NV-GS200 is surely a nicely featured camcorder. It has three 1/6”
Charge-coupled devices. A complete range of AV and DV input/outputs is
presented on the GS200 (DV-in/out only on the GS120), collectively with
all the common material like Universal Serial Bus connectivity for
pictures and MPEG4 video clips (GS200 only). Memory cards accepted are
SD and MMC cards, with a 8MB card provided. Progressive Mode shooting is
offered for stills as a way of getting improved clearness on still
images. The 10:1 Optical Zoom is balanced with a digital zoom choice
presenting the two 20:1 & 500:1, menu-choice able forms. Both of two
models offer complete auto/manual function of focus, aperture, and white
balance. They also give the feature of 16:9 wide screen recording (in a
cropped, letterbox forms only), changeable shutter speed ranges between
the 1/50th second to 1/8000th second.

The GS200 features a
movie-flash light, and both the two possess a sharp accessory shoe.
Moreover, it has an integral mike, which leads in a corresponding action
with the sound being taped while the lens is zoomed. The microphone also
bears a Wind Cut characteristic as a way of minimizing the wind noise.
Fascinatingly, both models bear a characteristic which makes possible
the back-searching of the final frame of the last recorded shot, making
it very helpful for checking that there is no break in time code on
beginning of a new run.
The GS200 enable to record
and replay the digital stills in plus to MPEG4 video scenes (320x240
resolution) which are saved on the offered 8MB SD card (optional
additional capacities equal to 512MB), with linkage to a pc thru a
provided Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable. The GS200 can also be
employed as a web cam; this is possible by using provided software.
Image stabilization is
offered in the shape of SIS, which applies extra pixels around the 4:3
Charge-coupled devices (CCDs) so as to electronically stabilize shaking
scenes. Progressive Shoot mode is offered for conditions where quick
stills are to be captured from DV tape or while recording the video onto
memory card. For those users who do not want to edit video recording in
a pc, there is a broad variety range of digital effects - got at by two
sub-menus – presenting features like multi-image, strobe.
Picture-in-picture, mosaic. Not only this but also many more like streth,
negative, sepai, solarisation, and so forth. There is also a fancy
titles mode. That offers a number of fun surrounds in which to put your
topics.
The NV-GS120 is available
with a VSB0471 Li-ion electric battery, which has the power of 2 hrs 25
min in maximum and 1 hr 15 min. in infrequent). Whereas the NV-GS200 is
available with a larger CGA-DU14 electric battery, which has the
capacity of more or less 5, more minutes in maximum operating.
