Hitachi DZ-GX3300A Camcorder Review

The Hitachi DZ-GX3300A is Hitachi’s best camcorder presented in this year. The functioning was dissatisfactory and handling was very great. Hitachi took the pattern from last year’s DVD camcorders presented by Panasonic, which were intelligently abandoned by Panasonic so as to standardize the appearance and optimize the usage of their MiniDV and DVD array.

Video Performance

The Hitachi DZ-GX3300 (USD498) employs a 1/3inch Charge-coupled device with 3.31 gross mega pixel (2.18 effectual mega pixel in 4:3 ratios, 1.64 effectual mega pixel in 16:9). At 3000 lux, the GX3300 provided a picture having much strong colors. Great intensity is evident, even greater than that in pictures from the Panasonic VDR-D300 and Sony DVD405. However the Panasonic and Sony came out fairly even in their tones, the Hitachi is much neon, much similar to Sony DVD403.

Low Light Performance

At 60 lux, the Hitachi DZ-GX3300 missed very much of color data, and on the whole brightness level was amazingly low – amazing for the reason that the camcorder employs a 1/3inch Charge-coupled device, big in size enough to gather a comparatively big amount of light. However the picture speaks for itself. May be it is some lack of the auto gain work, however the 60 lux functioning and result is not very fine. Noise was almost missing at 3000 lux. The colors, which existed over saturated, are at this time very dull, excluding the colors of yellows and light greens, which remain strong. The blacks missed almost all of their information, and were near to fall.

Picture & Manual Control

The default style determined for the Hitachi DZ-GX3300 is Auto. In this mode exposure, focus, and white balance are automatically operated. In this style, EIS is also employed. No Auto or Easy button is available, allowing a rapid and fault-proof method of switching between Auto and Manual adjustments. That is a burden because it wants operator to be persevering about supervising the on-screen presentation where manual option icons are displayed. One might simply be unsuccessful to see the Manual Focus icon showing that Manual Focus is employed, and giving a poor picture.

Ease of Use

The GX3300 is not comfortable camcorder to operate. We can ensure you of that. This trouble rises from the terrible handling – awkwardly positioned buttons with the left side of the main body, especially those within the Liquid crystal display cavity.

Apart from handling feature, the camcorder is just not a shrewd gadget. Its menu system is prolonged, having many secondary menus that take an extraordinarily long period of time to start. The mode dial contains four functions, including a camera icon, a video icon, OFF, and CARD.

All other camcorder we examined this to possess better comfort of operation, with Sony ahead. This field has traditionally been Sony’s strong point.
